	Robert A. Hartstirn, age 61, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Thursday,
December 16, 2004 at 12:05 p.m. at his home after a courageous battle with
kidney cancer.
	He was born on July 27, 1943 in Canton, Ill., a son to Robert F. and Maxine
(Tompkins) Hartstirn.  He married Karen Rumler in Canton on August 25, 1963
and she survives.
	Also surviving are his mother, four daughters: Mrs. George (Stephany) Ogg of
Pittsburgh, Pa., Stacey Hartstirn of Homewood, Ill., Shelly Hartstirn of
Chicago, and Sonya Gleason of Pinckneyville, 3 granddaughters: Kaylea,
Morgan and Josie Gleason, two sisters: Mrs. Sharron Kreider of Ashkum, Ill.,
Mrs. David (JoAnn) Andersen of South Holland, Ill., one brother: Randy
Hartstirn and Vicki of Canton and many nieces and nephews.
	He was preceded in death by his father and one brother: Albert (Skip)
Hartstirn.
	Bob worked in the coal mining industry for 38 years starting in Central
Illinois and in 1982 moving to Southern Illinois.  First he was
Superintendent at Consol Coal Co. Burning Star #3 in Sparta, then he became
Superintendent at Burning Star #5 in DeSoto, and in 1989 he became
Superintendent at Burning Star #4 at Cutler, retiring in August of 2002.  He
was an active and devoted member of First United Methodist Church in
Pinckneyville and a member of Fairview Masonic Lodge #350.  
	Visitation will be held at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville
on Saturday, December 18, 2004 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and at the
First United Methodist Church in Pinckneyville on Sunday from 12:00 p.m.
until 1:00 p.m.
	Funeral Services will be at the First United Methodist Church in
Pinckneyville on Sunday, December 19, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend
Jim Barnett officiating.
	Visitation will also be held at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton on
Monday, December 20, 2004 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Masonic
Services to follow at 8:00 p.m.
	Graveside Services will be on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in
Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Ill. with Reverend Jim Barnett officiating.  
	Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville or
Luke Memorial Hospice, Pinckneyville.
